Professor Hong received his Ph. D. degree in Management at Da Yeh University (DYU) in Taiwan. Since April 2025, he has been a professor of the College of Shipbuilding Engineering at Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, China.
His research focuses on the simulation and intelligent prediction of complex nonlinear dynamic systems. He has led numerous research projects and published over 180 papers in international academic journals and conferences, including 5 highly cited papers with an h-index of 55. He serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Intelligent Learning Systems and Applications, associate editor of Applied Soft Computing, and on the editorial boards of Energy Sources, Part B: Economics, Planning, and Policy, Discover Internet of Things, and Security of Infocommunication Systems and Internet of Things. He serves as the general chair of the international academic conferences MIIPSC (2027), ICDM (2026), IPICE (2026), and CSMLA (2026), and the program committee chair of ICogSys (2026), APAM (2026), AIDMDI (2026), ICCIR (2026), CAIBDA (2026), and ICCMT (2026). He was elected as the Outstanding Professor Award by the Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Foundation (Taiwan) in 2014 and 2023. From 2020 to 2025, he was indexed in the World's TOP 2% Scientists in ICT & AI Image Processing (both career-long and single year impact lists). From 2022 to 2025, he has also been indexed the Scholar GPS Top 0.05% Scholar in Forecasting (both lifetime and Prior 5 Years).
