Kang Zhuang, male, born in 1978, professor and doctoral supervisor. Kang has been working in the 'Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation (111 Center)' since 2006. The main research directions include two emerging fields: marine engineering model test technology and deep sea riser and submarine pipeline design and analysis technology research.

In the research direction of design and analysis of marine risers and submarine pipeline structures, Kang has undertaken a series of scientific research projects by relying on overseas members of the Deep Sea Engineering Technology Innovation and Introduction Base, including national major scientific and technological projects and national 863 projects. Some scientific research achievements have been put into practical use. Kang has educated many master's and doctoral students and guided a number of undergraduate graduation designs. The scientific research achievements were awarded one first prize for scientific and technological progress in Heilongjiang Province, ranking second in 2016. They were also awarded one first prize for the 'China Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award/Technology Development Category' by the China Oceanic Administration and the China Ocean Engineering Consulting Association, ranking second.

Ocean engineering model testing technology is one of the new development directions that schools and colleges are paying attention to. In 2009, Kang went to the Marine Engineering Technology Research Center of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the Marintek Marine Engineering Model Test Tank in Norway to study model testing technology for two months. In 2010, Kang led a team to the Marine Engineering Model Test Tank at the University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to study model testing technology for two months.
