Dr. Muhammad Abid has been serving as a full-time Assistant Professor at the College of Aerospace and Civil Engineering at Harbin Engineering University since October 2019, where he teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conducts research, and manages various administrative responsibilities. Additionally, he also teaches at the joint College of Civil Engineering established between the University of Aberdeen and Harbin Engineering University, with a focus on developing and delivering undergraduate courses. He received Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2019, where he was recognized as an outstanding scholar and awarded the China Scholarship Council Award. Dr. Abid also received the prestigious "Seal of Excellence" from the European Commission's Marie Sk？odowska-Curie Horizon Programme in 2023. Dr. Abid has authored over 30 publications in SCI-indexed Q1 and Q2 journals, primarily as the first and corresponding author, as well as international conference proceedings and technical reports. He is an active member of several international societies and organizations, has been awarded various research grants. His research focuses on the behavior of concrete under extreme conditions (such as fire, marine environments, and earthquakes), sustainable concrete development, carbon sequestration through construction materials, and the application of machine learning to predict the response of structures and materials. Additionally, he is a reviewer for several international journals and is a Guest Editor for Buildings and Frontiers in Built Environment. Dr. Abid has delivered numerous invited and keynote lectures and has served as a speaker and session chair at various conferences such as the FiB PhD symposium 2017 in Prague, PROTECT symposium in 2018 in Guangzhou, ICCEMS 2020-2024, and ICAM 2020-2024, etc. He has taught several undergraduate and postgraduate courses to B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. students in both China and Pakistan and has supervised numerous students at these levels. He is also a member of several professional accreditation and research organizations.
